Apprentice Training Classes

We want our members to succeed in the field and to achieve their highest potential. Our apprenticeship program trains and prepares new members for their future in Ironwork and gives them the skills needed to perform their job safely and efficiently. Our apprenticeship program isn’t just for those with no experience, it also holds its benefits for workers who have experience in the field but wish to expand their knowledge, training and certifications. Classes and training are held quarterly in one week training blocks, the rest of the time will be spent on the job.

Training classes:

  • OSHA, MSHA, Subpart R
  • Basic math for ironworkers
  • Scaffold assembly and dismantle
  • First aid/CPR/AED
  • History of ironwork
  • C.O.M.E.T
  • Blue prints
  • Reinforcing ironwork (rebar)
  • Welding, welding SMAW and welding FCAW
  • Structural steel part 1, 2 and 3
  • Architectural and ornamental ironwork
  • Rigging and signaling cranes
  • Introduction to cranes/working with cranes
  • Layout instruments for ironworkers
  • Industrial maintenance
  • Foreman training
  • Certifications for forklifts, aerial lifts and fall protection
  • Wind turbine training

Members can obtain numerous welding certifications during and/or after their apprenticeship through our training facility.

Once these classes are completed workers have the opportunity to obtain an associates degree in Applied Science through IVY Tech
